LICA Artwork Commission
Lancaster Institute for the Contemporary Arts (LICA) at Lancaster University seeks art or design-led proposals for a prestigious £10,000 award to create an artwork for a new eco-building.
The building is constructed to the BREEAM `outstanding` standard, and will be the first Higher Education building in the UK to reach such strict environmental targets for construction. LICA combines the academic groups of Art, Design, Film, Music and Theatre Studies, as well as three public arts facilities: the Peter Scott Gallery, Nuffield Theatre and Lancaster International Concerts. It also hosts the research group ImaginationLancaster. The timber-framed building, set in woodland on the north end of campus, will be the public face of LICA, with a stage for the nationally and internationally recognised work produced at Lancaster University.
