Rule of Thirds

Rule of Thirds the first event as part of North took place in at Lanternhouse in Ulverston South Cumbria on 31st October 2009. It was one day gathering of creative thinkers, discussing the impact of digital culture on the creative workflow, and exploring the exciting, developing opportunities for how we create, communicate and collaborate.

Portable Pixel Playground artists' blog now live

Pod Camp

Folly are delighted to announce the selection of Lisa Roberts as Artist in Residence for Pod Camp, a project aiming to provide a unique residential opportunity for a group of young carers from across Cumbria to engage with digital technology, sustainable energy and the forest environment.

New Portable Pixel Playground artwork in progress

folly is delighted to announce that Giles Askham and Luke Hastilow are currently creating the next PPP artists' commission, Cubed3, which will be completed and added to the playground in March 2010.

You can follow the development of Cubed3 by visiting the artists' blog on the Portable Pixel Playground website.

Cubed3 will be a set of tactile programmable objects, wirelessly connected to form a physical gaming system. Designed to encourage the exploration of diverse physical spaces and interaction between players, Cubed3 will re-imagine traditional games such as Treasure Hunt for 21st century play.

AND Festival presents Rule of Thirds

As part of the Abandon Normal Devices (AND) festival, folly is working in partnership with We Make Media to develop North, a programme of events and activities aimed at inspiring creative professionals to do things differently.

Rule of Thirds is the very first North event to hit Cumbria in the lead up to the AND festival taking place in Easter 2010. Rule of Thirds is a one day gathering of creative thinkers, meeting to discuss the impact of digital culture on creative workflow, and to explore the exciting, developing opportunities for how we create, communicate and collaborate.
