ArtCast_video Spring 2008 Week 1

This is the first of four weekly podcasts in association with moves08, in which audio and video art exploring the theme of this year's moves festival, the interaction of movement and sound, has been selected from an international open call. For the first week two audio and three video pieces have been brought together, all of which have a shared wit and communicative sensibility.

You can play this video now by clicking the play link on this page, or download your choice of file format by click on the  download other formats tab and clicking on the file you want. The file you download will play in your default media player such as Windows Media player, VLC or iTunes.

Or you can subscribe to the ArtCast_video podcasti so that you know every time a new episode becomes available. You'll need some (free) software that can handle podcast subscriptions, such as Juice or iTunes. Whichever software you use there will be a menu item along the lines of 'subscribe to podcast'. Juice has a subscriptions tab for this and iTunes has it on the Advanced menu. You need to copy and paste the ArtCast_video rss feed link (right-click and choose “copy link location” or “copy shortcuti”) into the podcast programme so it knows where to check for new episodes.

An exploration of a five-dimensional space. Claude Heiland-Allen (aka ClaudiusMaximus) is a digitali artist. He likes interaction between visible and audible things, feedback loops, and mathematics.

Jo Pearson aka 'One Minute Wanda': Airhead (0 min 57 sec)
An animation made from a mish-mash of manipulated images, where movement was kept to a minimum, allowing the patterns and movements of the soundtrack, which are both giddy and full of foreboding, to breathe.

N_DREW (aka Andrew Bucksbarg): Green Baby Head (2 min 30 sec)
Music video which takes inspiration from the history of visual music and experimental animation. It explores light and 2-dimensional forms. Sound by Aerostatic.
