Lesson Plans now available on folly's "Forest of Imagined Beginnings"

folly's Forest of Imagined Beginnings has now been made more accessible to young people through a series of lesson plans professionally written for teachers.
Two lesson plans have been developed for folly by writer Fredrik Lloyd for any group of students who fall within the age range for digi_club membership (between 12 and 16 years old). The plans will suit lessons in art and design, citizenship, design and technology, geography or ICT.
The lessons integrate the following key and basic skills: listening, talking, using a keyboard/mouse, learning to share ideas and come to mutual group understanding, leadership, and organisation skills within group work.

The Forest of Imagined Beginnings is a new type of online forum, developed especially for young people, within folly's digi_club. In the forest there are no clear rules or objectives. It is simply an online landscape that is vulnerable to the whims and wants of the digi_club community who can adopt this digital terrain as their own. digi_club members can explore the forest, embedding their own messages within the landscape and attaching conversations to trees planted by the artists.

Aim of the Lessons:
To discuss and share ideas on the subject of chat rooms and message board use on the internet
Objective/outcome of the lessons:
To have gained an understanding of new experiential chat rooms, and compared them with previous personal experience. To gain competence in communicating a shared experience.
Each lesson is 50 minutes in duration, with optional extension/supplementary activities
Lesson Pack 1 includes:
introduction to digi_club and the Forest of Imagined Beginnings for teachers *must be read in advance of the lesson delivery
lesson plan and course overview
lesson task list
x2 supplementary/extension activities - which could be used if students finish early, or to extend the lesson beyond 50 minutes
supplementary image pack
Lesson 2 was devised for students to take part in after the introductionary session in lesson 1, however the lesson can also stand alone.
Lesson Pack 2 includes:
