Commonly used in Internet Relay Chat (IRCi), a boti is a program running 24/7 to automate mundane tasks for a useri. An IRC bot would, for example, perform the task of interacting with the IRC. A spideri bot on the other hand is used to search the internet for new resources that are publicly accessible, adding this information to a database to be searched by the user. Such bots are used by many of the popular search sites such as Google or Lycos.
