BIOS

A “Basici Input/Output System” is a pre-installed program for starting a PC-based computer. It checks hardware connections and locates devices. The BIOSi is located in the Read-Only Memory of the computer. It can not reside in the hard drive as it manages the hard drive itself and could not be located in the Random Access Memory as it is needed before the computer is booted up. During the computers use (after booting up) the BIOS is still employed as an intermediary between the CPU and the input/output devices.
