Nins’s roast potatoes, Gran’s sticky toffee pudding, Mam’s Lancashire hot pot, Grannie’s butter pie, or chicken tikka masala? What's your Grandmothers special recipe? What's the dish she can cook like no one else?

Artists and designers Human Beans are making a video cookbook of the grandmothers of Lancaster, and they need your grandma. It's part of the show perimeters boundaries and borders opening at the new CityLab in Dalton Square, Lancaster, 29 September - 20 October.

Grow Your Own Media Lab is a trans-regional action research project that aims to investigate, improve and document a low cost, participatory, open source media lab model. folly is delivering a series of 5 FREE GYOML workshops throughout September-December at The Canteen Film Project, based in Northern Riviera in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria. The workshops will give participants the opportunity to work in a variety of computer-based artistic disciplines under the guidance of some of the best-known and well-respected artists working in the field.

p-tex is a lancaster based artist who uses multimedia technology to explore sound, incorporating sensors and live performance in response to the changing environment around him.

p-tex will be delivering GYOML in a field EVENT. p-tex proposes to research, create, perform and broadcast in real time over the internet, an experimental music installation, for the Grow Your Own Media Lab project.

The event will take place on 19th August 2006 in Heysham, with a web broadcast at 5.30pm and a performance at 7.30pm in the area known as the barrows - close to St. Peter's Chapel, the 8th Century ruin with rock-cut tombs, over looking the bay. Click here for the full story, including directions.

For this commission Nick Holme will be investigating and assessing the various FOSS software that is available for live streaming, deciding on one method for the purpose of the research and producing a comprehensive guide on how to set up and use the software.

f.play is the playground of folly, established to develop access and participation for the less experienced participant. It will encourage learning and skills development and opportunities for all to experiment and experience innovative forms of culture.

A unique social arts project titled ‘Young Roots: Through The Window’, focuses on young people’s interpretations of Morecambe architecture & history, how the town has changed and how they can influence the future as the town develops.

Involving a group of young people from Morecambe taking part in four days of workshops delivered by acclaimed artist Tony Stallard, the focus has been on the interpretations of the town, its architecture, architectural loss and changes over the last century or more.

There will be a launch event held at the Dome, Morecambe on July 26th 2006

For the second year running folly delivered a multi-media workshop as part of Lancaster and Morecambe Children’s Festival.

A semi-permanent GYOM lab will be installed at The Canteen in Barrow-in-Furness this Summer for 3 months and a programme of 5 workshops will be run by folly and The Open Lab.

e-lumi is a project run by folly as part of the biennial Staveley Carnival celebrating art, music, dance and colour. A two month workshop programme culminates in a weekend of carnival festivities this Summer.
