Analog

Analog

Analogi can be described as the transmitting or receiving of information in a continuous streami – as opposed to a digitali transmission. Examples of analog devices include a VCR ('video recorder). VCRs are quickly being replaced by DVD players of course and TV transmissions are due to switch from analog to digital in the near future. For TVs which are not digital a set top box can be connected to translate the digital signal or transmissions. Computers can only deal in digital data which explains the widespread eagerness to switch from analog to digital. One can use a digital to analog converter (DAC) to translate analog information into a digital so that it can be understood by your computer.
