Bus

Bus

A set of electrical pathways inside a computer that allow data to be passed back and forth. In most computers there will be a number of different buses that deliver data to different parts of the machine. The primary busi in a computer is known as the frontside bus. This bus connects the central processing unit (CPU) to the other components of the motherboardi. PCI and AGP are examples of expansion buses which permit data to be moved to and from an expansion card or input/output device. The size of a bus is measured in bits . The larger the number of bits the more data that can be transmitted by that particular bus in a given number of clock cycles, a measure of how fast that particular computer operates.  This is measured in megahertz. Again, the higher the megahertz measurement the faster the speed of transmission.
