“Charged Coupled Devices” are sensors used in digitali and video cameras to record still and moving images. The device will capture light and convert it into digital data that can be recorded by the camera. Image quality can vary depending on the resolution of the cameras sensor. A digital camera's resolution is measured in Megapixels. In the case of video cameras the CCDi is measured in physical size, for example 1/5 of an inch. The top-end digital video cameras actually use three sensors (3CCD), each capturing either red, green and blue hues.
