Cookie

A cookiei is a piece of data sent to your computer by a web server. It records information related to your interactions with that site. A common example is the cookie which remembers your login and password, meaning you need not re-enter it every time you visit the site. Without cookies you would not be able to customize your email account, for example. Web browsers can  usually be configured to ask you whether you wish to opt in or out of these cookies.
