"Digitali Video" (DVi) records action digitally, as ones and zeros, unlike traditional analogi video that captures action frame by frame on a tape (Mini DVi and HDVi are used by DV camcorders) . This is useful if you intend on editing or otherwise manipulating your filmed material on a computer as computers only recognize digital data. If you use an analog camcorder (SVHS or Hi-8 devices for example) it will be necessary to use a digital to analogue converter (ADC) to translate the information into digital before exporting it to a computer.
