folly seeks to understand young people's “Virtual Lives”

folly Communications Co-ordinator Matt Wootton and young participant Josh use the suits at Cornerhouse, Manchesterfolly, alongside fellow Northwest arts organisations FACT, Cornerhouse, Liverpool John Moores' University and ICDC, (the International Centre for Digital Content), has completed an exciting new project working with young people from the Northwest. The project culminated in the exhibition of two "Body Language" suits at FACT, at folly's follyplay event in Burnley in February and at Manchester's Cornerhouse last month. The suits were part of an artwork commissioned and conceived by the young people themselves.

Imagine yourself in a virtual forest where you can chat under virtual trees planted by artists, in the Forest of Imagined Beginnings, by boredomresearch (pictured).

You can also find out more about digi_club, folly's online youth club for 12 to 16 year olds, and meet digital artist Dan Fox who will you take through his new exciting project "Directional Audio".

digi_club meets ARTRADIO!

from Radio Nights by David Blandydigi_club members will be working with artist David Blandy to create radio content for broadcast on ARTRADIO, which will be broadcasting from Cornerhouse, Manchester between 30 June and 26 August.

12-16 year olds can join digi_club by registering on the website - www.digi.org.uk

You can listen to digi_club members on ARTRADIO, online at www.artradio.fm, from 4-6pm on Tuesday 7th and Wednesday 8th August.

digi_club at More Music in Morecambe

digi_club is folly’s digital youth club for young people aged between 12 and 16. It aims to encourage young people to take part in digital art. digi_club will increase the skills of young people and encourage them to think more creatively about their use of new technology through a programme of workshops, online activities and facilitated forums in order to encourage young talent to thrive.

There will be two digi_club workshops in June at The Hothouse, More Music's venue in Morecambe.

digi_club is a new online youth club for people aged between 12 and 16. The free digital club will help young people understand and get involved in folly’s world of digital art.


The website - http://www.digi.org.uk - was launched at follyplay on the 13th January. As well as the online club, digi_club is running a series of monthly digital arts workshops for people aged 12-16.
