folly, alongside fellow Northwest arts organisations FACT, Cornerhouse, Liverpool John Moores' University and ICDC, (the International Centre for Digital Content), has completed an exciting new project working with young people from the Northwest. The project culminated in the exhibition of two "Body Language" suits at FACT, at folly's follyplay event in Burnley in February and at Manchester's Cornerhouse last month. The suits were part of an artwork commissioned and conceived by the young people themselves.

digi_club is folly’s digital youth club for young people aged between 12 and 16. It aims to encourage young people to create their own digital art. digi_club is a place to meet artists and be inspired.

digi_club will increase the skills of young people and encourage them to think more creatively about their use of new technology through a programme of workshops, online activities and facilitated forums in order to encourage young talent to thrive. Visit the digi_club website at www.digi.org.uk

In the Forest of Imagined Beginnings there are no clear rules or objectives. It is simply an online landscape that is vulnerable to the whims and wants of the digi_club community who can adopt this digital terrain as their own.

This new multi-user online environment – a new kind of forum or chat room - invites 12 -16 year olds to navigate and explore a beautiful landscape. digi_club members can explore the forest, embedding their own messages within the landscape and attaching conversations to trees planted by the artists.
