Digital Culture?
Leading Digital Arts organisation Folly, have been commissioned by Lancashire County Council to carry out a creative consultation with the Libraries Service, library users and the general public in Lancashire, regarding people's relationships to digital culture.
During 2009, artists, John O'Shea and Neil Winterburn, developed the "balloonascope" - a giant interactive diagram, composed of balloons - to facilitate an engaging discussion relating to digital culture in libraries and public spaces across Lancashire.
Our human culture exists in an increasingly digital realm. "The Digital World is a reality in all of our lives." (Digital Britain Report, 2009.)
Public libraries have traditionally provided the general public with free access to a wide variety of published books and other printed materials and in doing so they have permitted all citizens to participate in and have access to our wider human 'culture.'
