AND Festival Launch

Bursting from screens and galleries into the streets and imaginations of the Northwest, Abandon Normal Devices (AND) is a new cross-regional festival that questions the normal and champions a different approach. The debut AND festival arrives in Liverpool on 23-27 September 2009.

Meanwhile in Cumbria, to give a taste of the festival in advance of its presentation across Cumbria, Lancashire and Online in April 2010 held by folly, AND presents M.A.R.I.N. a mobile residency programme set on board a catamaran sailboat on the Irish Sea.

M.A.R.I.N. will call at 2 ports along the cumbrian coast and will run a workshop programme led by folly in partnership with soundwave, Dropzone and The Dock Museum.  All the research and work created during the residency programme will be used to create podcasts, a geo-tagged web blog and an installation in the public space at FACT in Liverpool during the AND Festival.

AND is an ambitious collaboration between folly, FACT and Cornerhouse.

AND is part of WE PLAY. WE PLAY is the Northwest cultural legacy programme for the  2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. WE PLAY is a Legacy Trust UK project, led by the Arts Council England Northwest, on behalf of a new regional partnership.
