Art in the forest: the first Podcamp weekend

Ten young carers enjoyed a successful Podcamp weekend of 11th – 12th June; the first of two residential trips to Grizedale Forest to make artwork, learn about the forest, and have a well-earned respite from their daily care duties.

Carers from Carlisle, Workington and Millom worked with artist Lisa Roberts, wood-bender Charlie Whinney, poet Alison Ireland and artist Julie Ann Sheridan; to build dens along a forest trail and write poems reflecting upon their lives, experiences and surroundings.

They also learnt about the forest environment and wildlife from the Grizedale rangers.

The second Podcamp weekend takes place this forthcoming weekend, with more creative sessions and outdoor games to look forward to.
