Will Schrimshaw: Project Update
Will Schrimshaw has been in residence with FLI (Folly Lanternhouse Residency) for some weeks now, and has been carrying out research and implementation in relation to his project, Invisible Cartographies. This project has been set up with an aim to increase awareness of the atmosphere and what makes it up, which would otherwise remain undetectable by humans.
The invisible determinants of everyday environments and elements of atmospheric chemistry are to be mapped through observing pedestrians and experimentation. This will be carried out through the use of specially designed hardware and software developed for use with Android mobile phones.
The launch of the project was promoted through a very successful digital lunch, which encouraged attendees to engage with the main themes of the project, and to bring their own ideas to the table too.
For more in-depth information about the project so far and to follow his progress, check out Will's dedicated blog here; http://invisible.folly.co.uk/
Addtionally, Will is open to anyone who is interested in his work to join him on data collecting walks around Ulverston.

The Folly Lanternhouse International Residencies offer support to artists working with new technologies to develop their ideas and extend their practice, with a particular emphasis on participatory activity.
The scheme is a result of a keen and dynamic partnership between two organisations, folly and Lanternhouse
